The past few days have been pretty exciting… receiving, riding and racing on my new road bike.
Not only have I enjoyed my initial Bianchi riding experience but learning all the history behind Passione Celeste – The Bianchi Story;
“Bianchi 120: a history of road races, remembrance and values. Bianchi. A name synonymous with cycling and great bicycles for over 120 years. A factory whose history,
since far back in 1885, intertwines with the evolution of the ancient “velocipede”: since then a steady and
unrelenting development and a long string of triumphs in the most prestigious competitions (more than thousands
of successes, including six world titles) which made Bianchi a brand famous worldwide, putting together quality and drive to perfection.
Features which marked the life and activity of Edoardo Bianchi and his first shop in Via Nirone, Milan more than a century ago: a creative and versatile mind and the entrepreneurial skills fuelled the development of the little shop brimming with inventions, innovations, new products and of course huge popular success.
A success which shaped the history of Bianchi, set in its genes and forged its approach to road racing with
genuine passion and sacrifice.
You say Bianchi and names like Coppi, Gimondi, Pantani come to your mind…
Because it is history that day by day builds the charm around a name, the fame of a brand; until it hits the public imagination. That cycling history, which often turns into a tale, a deed, an epic adventure will now forever grow and the Passion for this brand will grow with it.
You say Bianchi and you think about the greatest champions of the past and of today, unforgettable faces and famous names who struggled and won on the roads around the world in the saddle of their ‘celeste’ bikes.
Bianchi has ever since been engaged with professional cycling, because it felt that its bicycles should match
technique and quality and also success in road competitions. History confirmed we were right: today Bianchi
history is a legend on both the road and Cross Country. “
“Hors
Hors Categorie, means beyond limits. These models feature a geometry conceived from the extreme research of the lightness-performances ratio. They are ideal for the most evolved and demanding riders”
“928
1949, 1952, 1998. These are the years in which Bianchi won both the Giro and the Tour. The last digits, together, compose the name of a range of unique bicycles. The characteristics: superlight, stiff and reactive. The evolution for 2010 range: the integrated aero seat post (IASP). Used by Team Barloworld too.”
